TODAY'S BREATHING SPACE

My heart rejoices

My heart rejoices in the Lord; in the Lord my horn is lifted high. 1 Samuel 2:1b

Your prayers, though feeble and imperfect, are a source of joy to my heart. This is because your prayers release the power I have bound in them—allowing prayer to become a vital part of my mercy supply. I could effect everything without prayer, but that would deprive my children of the dignity I have bestowed in this gift. Prayer is not a beggar asking bread from an unwilling God. Prayer is the exercise of Throne-rights by God’s children. Of course they are a source of joy to me, because I rejoice when my children act like my children—and in the process become more completely what I have meant them to be. Pray seriously, my child—but, pray joyfully. —Hal M. Helms, Echoes of Eternity, Vol II

Prayer of the Day for Eucharist

Lord Jesus, in my arrogance at times I am sure that I know best. This leaves no room for your Holy Spirit to move in ways that I have no idea of, and for your love to be expressed in ways I can’t imagine. Grant me the gift of repentance so I am not a block to your work in someone else’s life. Amen.
