The Holy Spirit Among Us
Those who walk blamelessly, and do what is right, and speak the truth from their heart; who do not slander with their tongue, and do no evil to their friends, nor take up a reproach against their neighbors; . . . those who do these things will never be moved. —Psalm 15:2–3, 5b
Community is the inevitable and essential result of faithfulness, inseparably linked to the work of God in our hearts and in the world. Having humbly exposed and repented of the pretense that kept us in bondage to fear, we are able to divest ourselves of the sinful impulses of selfishness and self-preservation. Choosing to empty our hearts of anything that would compete for our faithfulness to Jesus, we make room for the new life born within us through the work of the Holy Spirit among us. —Jamie Arpin-Ricci, Vunerable Faith
Prayer of the Day
Jesus, your word teaches me that I do not have the right to withhold forgiveness from my brother or sister when my very life is contingent upon your undeserved forgiveness. I pray for a generous heart toward my brothers and sisters, a heart that forgives and allows them to start anew. Amen.
