Ascend by steps
Blessed is the man whose help is from thee: in his heart he hath disposed to ascend by steps, In the vale of tears, in the place which he hath set. —Psalm 84:5–6
I sometimes wonder how it came about that I am a Christian. I think I was attracted as one is attracted to love and light, to the image of Jesus, in power and tenderness mixed in a way I couldn’t figure out—in whom the words strong and weak had meanings other than those they had in the world. —Krister Stendahl, Roots of Violence
Prayer of the Day
Lord, sometimes I will start on a project with the faith and confidence that you want me to do it. But I find along the way that I can get rattled and fearful and retreat. Why do I do that? Help me to trust that you will guide and help me all the way. I can do all things through you. Amen.
