Feast of John Cassian, Abbot

Feast of John Cassian, Abbot

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! —Psalm 8:9

The church fathers were well aware that reading the Bible is an encounter and an entry to communion with God, as is the sacrament of the Eucharist. —Enzo Bianchi, Lectio Divina

Prayer of the Day
O Lord, you said that unless a kernel of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains only a single seed. But if it dies, it produces many seeds. You helped your servant John Cassian to spread many seeds of the monastic life to the West. Help me also to be a faithful witness for you. Amen.
