Portal to glory
Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, who do not turn to the proud, and put no confidence in false gods. —Psalm 40:4
The interior reality of the saints was completely transformed. It was because of that fire, or should I say that furnace within, that the saints saw light where others saw darkness. Nothing could stop the dynamism and abiding joy of the dominion of God experienced within. Where the world saw an instrument of torture (the cross), Jesus with eyes ablaze, saw the portal to glory. —Amos Smith, Be Still and Listen
Prayer of the Day
Dear Jesus, it is difficult sometimes to figure out priorities each day with so many voices clamoring for my attention. Yet your answer to the Pharisees was clear—“give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s.” Help me to set my sights on doing your will first and foremost, so that the rest will fall into place. Amen.
